High protein foods are foods that contain up to or more than 30 of its calories coming from proteins. On a regular day in America, the total amount of proteins we consume in our diet gives an average of 12%- 16% of the calories we consume.

Amino acids are the foundation all human beings are built form. A fun fact, we are made from about 20 different amino acid molecules. Out of these 20 amino acids, 9 are essential amino acids. We call them essential because our bodies can’t produce them from other nutrients. They must be fully formed by the body with the proteins we eat.

Both animals and plants are good sources of protein. But animal protein is better and more precious because of its complete protein. Research, however, has shown that soybean milk also is a complete type of protein as an animal product. I guess that’s a good thing for vegetarians.

Notably, type one or complete proteins contain all the essential amino acids we need. You can get this by taking animal meat, poultry, egg whites, and milk.

Plant proteins, on the other hand, are incomplete proteins. This means they do not have all nine essential amino acids. Some plants contain more proteins than others. We measure this by looking at how much amino acid is lacking in them.

Some plants, for instance, lack only one or two amino acids. These are plants like dried beans, nuts, and other grains, such as corn.

Many cultures have developed a variety of dishes from these plants, such as red beans and rice or corn tortillas. Other meals combine animal and plant proteins to ensure they get every form of protein they can possibly need.

A chicken breast has the most protein content in a chicken. A skinless cooked chicken of let’s say 172 grams has as much as 52 grams of protein. This is an excellent protein bite if you’re sticking to a protein diet. This means you get as much as 31 grams of protein in every 100 grams of chicken breast you eat.

However, a chicken breast also has other nutritional benefits. A chicken breast has 165 to 284 calories in every 100 grams. 80% of its protein is protein base, while the additional 20% comes from fat.

Animal Milk

Skimmed milk is a good source of protein that has up to 8.3 grams of protein in each cup. Other refined forms of milk like low-fat mozzarella cheese has 6.9 grams of protein. While cottage cheese has an average of 3.5 grams. Ice creams have up to 3.6grams in a half-cup serving.

Soy Beans Products

Soy milk and soy products like tofu are also excellent sources of protein serving up to 36 grams of protein in100 grams. Soymilk and tofu are some of the products that are made from soybeans.

Other protein-rich foods include poultry, fish, seeds, and nuts. Some grains and fruits are also sources of protein, but generally, they aren’t as high as other sources of protein.
